Why did I bother telling you all this? Because you may be well prepared, but other people involved can screw up when you least expect it and grossly inconvenience you. How bad were her knees? She was admitted for a double knee replacement a month after we returned home. She was made to feel like a criminal throughout the whole incident and marched the length of the airport, even though she had chronic knee osteoarthritis and had asked for a wheelchair She was told no chairs were available. Although the staff were verbally reprimanded, absolutely no apology was given to the wife.
Then all hell broke loose, with both the Check-in clerk and the TSA officer that cleared her entry getting a new one ripped.īy the time they reissued another boarding ticket, cleared her again though security and she arrived back at the boarding gate, we were the last couple to board. The check-in clerk denied any wrongdoing and was refusing to rectify the problem until the wife demanded to see the supervisor. They called TSA and tqo officers immediately escorted the wife out of the area and back to the front desk. The wife then went to the attendant at the departure gate and showed them the mix-up. She checked the friend's ticket to see if they'd just been swapped, but the friend's name was on both. We were just relaxing in the departure lounge when she looked at the boarding ticket and noticed the wrong name. She was also "checked" by TSA to see that her ticket matched her passport and allowed through. The check-in clerk actually entered the name of another woman who was travelling with us on the wife's boarding ticket.
The book-in and security check was certainly swift, but Hawaiian Airlines boo-boo'd on the wife's boarding pass. We did the early morning flight from OAK to OGG ( Maui) in April 2015.
